浙江师范大学外语学院简介

外国语学院的前身——浙江师范学院外语系始建于1960年。现有英语系、日语系、翻译系和大学外语教学部四个教学单位,英语、日语、翻译三个本科专业。外国语学院拥有外国语言文学一级学科硕士点,下设外国语言学及应用语言学、英语文学、翻译学、外语课程与教师发展四个二级学科学术性硕士点、翻译硕士(MTI)和学科教学论(英语)两个专业学位硕士点,并有校级重点学科“外国语言文学”。英语专业为浙江省首批优势专业、浙江省重点专业和校品牌专业,该专业在2006年教育部英语专业本科教学水平评估中获得优秀。翻译专业为浙江省重点建设专业和浙江省新兴特色专业。

学院现有教职工126人,其中教授10人、博士(含在读)26人。每年聘请国内外知名专家来院任教、讲学。现有全日制本科生 1000余人,硕士研究生400余人。学院与国内外10余所高校建立合作关系,每年选派50余名学生赴美国、英国、日本等国家公费留学,20余名学生赴上海外国语大学交流学习。

学院拥有24,000平方米的新教学大楼,设备先进的语言实验室和国内一流的笔译实验室、同声传译实验室、外语自主学习与教学中心及外语职前教师实训中心等专业实验室。另配有录音棚、录音室、调频台和学术报告厅等先进教学设施,为师生的教学科研活动提供了良好的条件。

College of Foreign Languages, Zhejiang Normal University

College of Foreign Languages, formerly the Foreign Language Department of Zhejiang Normal College, was established in 1960. Presently, the College has the Department of English, the Department of Japanese and the Department of Translation, as well as the Division of College Foreign Languages, and offers three BA Programs. We offer four master’s programs in the disciplines of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, English Literature, Translation Studies, Foreign Language Curriculum and Teacher Development, as well as two professional master’s programs in English Teaching, and Translation and Interpreting. Out of them, the Linguistics and Applied Linguistics is a Key Discipline of ZJNU. The English Program, listed as a first-batch Superiority Program and a Provincial Key Program, and a Flagship Program at ZJNU, was rated “Excellent” by the Assessment Panel for Undergraduate Teaching organized by the Ministry of Education in 2006. The Program in Translation and Interpreting is a Provincial Key Program Under Construction and a Provincial Special-feature Program.

The College has 126 staff and faculty members, among whom there are 10 professors and 26 faculty members with or pursuing doctor’s degrees. Every year, well-known scholars and experts from home and abroad (especially those from the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, and Japan) are invited to teach or give lectures. Currently there is an enrollment of over 1,000 undergraduate students and over 400 postgraduate students. Exchange programs have been established with over a dozen overseas universities; each year, more than 50 students take part in exchange programs in the US, the UK and Japan, and more than 20 students are sent to study at Shanghai International Studies University.

The College owns two classroom buildings with a total floor space of over 24,000 square meters, first-class language labs including a computer-assisted translation lab, and a simultaneous interpreting lab, language training center and a pre-service English teachers’ training center. Other advanced facilities such as the recording studio, the FM radio station and the lecture hall provide the faculty and students with good conditions for teaching, learning and other academic activities.
